Reflecting on the purpose of preservation and archives, Dust to *dust (part 2) consists of a large floor installation composed of various blank porcelain replicas of documents, weavings and backsides of annotated maps selected in the archive of Jacques Bourlanges.
Consciously obliterating the content of this specific archive allows the visitor to experience an abstract sense of the archive: piles of yellowish papers, disintegrating dust of porcelain, plastified textile gets intertwined with folds of maps and decaying plastic tape.
The research of Jacques gets to live its intended truth: documents become landscape marked by invisible meaning – the sky is on the earth. The tactility of elements, composing the installation, echoes to the fragility of physical traces one may leave behind, as well as the ones superimposed on us and our physical environment by higher forces.
